*-TOO MUCH INFORMATION

January 29, 2008 - 7:09 PM

I watched Schindler's List last week.

I was deeply disturbed by the fact that I found Ralph Fiennes portrayal of Amon Goeth incredibly arousing. Lusting after depraved, spoiled murderers puts my own morality into question.

If you don't know the story...Amon Goth is the Nazi commandant of a prison camp outside of Krakow. He was mentally unbalanced, even by Nazi standards. They put him in a sanitarium, where he was found at the end of the war. He was promptly hung, for crimes against humanities.

It's Fiennes as Goeth that entrances me, not the actual Goeth.

I'm watching The English Patient now. I thought I'd see if he was as intriguing in an actual romance, where a lady is supposed to be attracted to him. I don't know that I like him this slender. He put on 25 pounds for the role as Goeth. His face was rounder. He had some weight around his middle. Couldn't see those blue eyes in Schindler's List but you could feel the depth.

I do like this character though. Deep. Mysterious. Repressed and obsessive. They're trapped in a car in a sand storm and he's telling her a story, a bit of myth, and touching her hair.

Women like that.

I'd really prefer not to be too interested in him. Ralph Fiennes is an actor. He's not any of these men in these movies. These men simply do not exist.

The monsterous Goeth did of course, but not as Fiennes portrayed him.

I should not be interested in things that don't exist, it will only make me more unhappy.

Hey...he is literally tearing her clothes off...that is very sexy. And now they're having a bath.

And now they're having sex behind a door, the scene is so electric and they don't even have their clothes off.

It's a good thing the boys had to go to Scouts.
