*-TOO MUCH INFORMATION

November 22, 2006 - 9:44 PM

Went to the grocery store today to pick up a few things that I had forgotten yesterday.

In the cold case where the cream cheese, while I was looking for the salmon flavor...which sounds like it would taste good but doesn't, probably because of the low grade of salmon used, but StarWarsGuy still likes it. In that section what do I see?

A tub of cheese cake filling. Ready made filling to spread in a graham cracker crust and tote off to the get-together.

This is dangerous. Cheese cake filling in a 24 ounce tub. I had to make myself put it down and get out of that aisle quick like a bunny, 'cause...damn. That would cause some serious dietary repercussions. Who the hell would bother with the fuss of spreading it in the crust? Just get a spoon.

We're going to StarWarsGuy's cousins house tomorrow. I'm still making my brined turkey, Dragon Baby would never let me get out of that. I'll just be making it on Friday instead. So tomorrow I'll make the pumpkin pie and the brine and get the turkey soaking...it's twenty pounds it'll have to soak most of the day and overnight to be properly...infused.

But we're going to the cousins house, all of us. StarWarsGuy always complained about doing stuff with his family but then he tells me this last week and says they said bring the kids and everything. I don't know what to make of this. It makes me nervous. I've met his sister and her daughter and his mom and dad of course. But I've never met any of the rest of the family yet, never been to any big family gatherings...and on a holiday too. He hates holidays. He's not fond of his extended family much either, beyond the amusement their occasional bad behavior gives him.

His mom likes me, because I made him get a job. Well, I didn't make him. I asked him to do it. I didn't holler at him or anything, because I knew he was really scared about trying to get a real job after his awful divorce and being depressed for over a year and not working for a year. But I explained that I need help. If the situation was reversed I would not expect him to support me or want him to suffer. I said he didn't have to get some high paying full time job right away but I needed help from him.

We worked on some ideas for starting his own business and on his resume...but do you know what he managed to do? Get a high paying full time job anyway. Without even trying. A friend of his gave him some side work in a warehouse for hotel supplies and the supervisor liked the work he did so much he hired StarWarsGuy full time. And he really likes the job. He got his first paycheck today and was very proud of it. And he gets to go to Beverly Hills next week with his friend, for the job. How do you like that. Huh.

Wish someone would hand me a job like that.
